Off-screen, Kate Mulgrew is markedly different in appearance from full-bodied Mary Ryan. Kate says of her screen image: "The other women in the show are beautiful foils for Mary, because they're all gorgeous creatures; magnificent-looking women. When I met them during auditions, I thought, 'No way I'm going to get cast.' But they wanted pure Irish from Mary, and that's exactly what they got with me!" |
Kate and castmate Michael Levin (Jack Fenelli) take a break between shooting scenes on location for Ryan's Hope. |
