Jack goes to see Sister Mary Joel. He tells her he's happier now that he's away from the Ryans. He also tells her that he is going ahead with the annulment and would like her to testify that he never wanted kids.Sister Mary Joel tells Jack he must be out of his mind. She has no knowledge of his opposition to fatherhood. Furthermore, if she had, she would have spoken up before the wedding. She tells Jack he's trying to con her. Having her stand before the church tribunal may help them understand Jack Fenelli, but it won't help him get an annulment. Sister Mary Joel says she is beginning to think that Mary is too good for Jack and begs him to not continue to hurt Mary and himself. Jack agrees that Mary is too good for him; that's why he has to go through with this.
