Kate Mulgrew was
the featured celebrity reader this year for the annual fund-raiser at UCLA's
Department of English. The '97 event was a marathon reading of Bleak
House which took 35 hours to complete. Numerous readers were sponsored
to read consecutive pieces of the manuscript until it was complete. Mulgrew
was sponsored by members of her fan club, "Now Voyager," some of whom also
participated as readers, including former Voyager intern Lynda Foley.
