Kate Mulgrew's mother, Joan Mulgrew suffered from Alzheimer's. Ms. Mulgrew, who is a member of the National Advisory Committee of the Alzheimer's Association and a spokesperson for the organization is deeply committed to finding a cure for this devastating disease. Donations can be made by

Kate delivered the keynote speech at a luncheon on Friday, Feb. 29th, 2008 to announce the MetLife Foundation Awards for Medical Research in Alzheimer's Disease. Read Kate's speech here. View video of Kate's speech here. Kate was the honorary chairperson for the Dubuque Alzheimer's Memory Walk in Dubuque, Iowa (Greater Iowa Chapter) on Sept. 22nd, 2007. Although she was unable to attend in person she invited everyone to become involved by either participating in the walk or making a donation. Kate's mother, Joan Mulgrew, had Alzheimer's. Kate and her mother spoke about their situation on Lifetime TV's "Speaking of Women's Health".
