Ladies and Gentlemen: This has been an extremely interesting time, certainly in the history of this country, and I feel that it is the first time in a very very long time that we are united as a people. This is deeply exciting. On a professional level, I completed a long and very gratifying run in "Equus " and then went on to shoot a pilot for NBC called "Mercy" which I believe has been picked up for the fall or spring season. The specific details will be released by the network later in the month. I am looking for a play and hope that it will come to me before I become irritated. But I realize, even in this wish, that I have been a little spoiled as an actress and that in the waiting there is a kind of lovely discipline. I am on my way to Los Angeles at the end of May to attend my son Alec Egan's one man art show and hope that I will see a few or many of you there. His work continues to surprise and delight me. I want to thank you all, once again and always, for your support. And to let you know that I am exploring a very interesting, provocative, and rather serious idea with a group of pioneering neuroscientists in the field of Alzheimer's research and I hope to have more news regarding this endeavor very soon. On a tender note, I was the keynote speaker at my father's induction into the Dubuque hall of fame for his contribution to Democratic politics and I noted that a contingent of my terrific fans came to video the event. This always stirs me and makes me proud and happy. My father would have felt exactly the same way. To be continued very soon... Kate |
