Kate Mulgrew has had a distinguished career in theatre, film and television. A list of her extensive credits can be found here. Kate's first love is theater. She received an Obie Award (Off-Broadway Theatre Award) for her performance as Clytemnestra in Signature Theatre Company's production of IPHIGENIA 2.0 and was nominated for a Drama League Award for her
performance in OUR LEADING LADY. She also had a long run as Katharine Hepburn in the one-woman play, TEA AT FIVE, for which she received Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle nominations as well as Florida's prestigious Carbonell Award as Best Actress in a Touring, Independent Production.

Those versed in Star Trek lore know that Kate created the iconic role of Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager and imbued the character with humanity, grace and grit in her own inimitable style.  In fact, not only did Mulgrew make history as the first female captain of a Star Trek series, but she and the crew of Star Trek: Voyager helped launch the fledgling UPN television network.

Kate is currently playing another iconic character, Galina "Red" Reznikov, in Orange Is The New Black streaming only on Netflix. 

Kate Mulgrew's mother, Joan Mulgrew suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. Ms. Mulgrew is a member of the Alzheimer's Association's National Advisory Committee and a spokesperson for the organization. She is deeply committed to finding a cure for this devastating disease. More
